FTKA Principals (left to right): ScottR, ScottB and Ted Breadth of Advice
While many investment firms limit their advice to assets they manage, we consider and advise on all pertinent financial information about our clients including employee retirement programs, employee stock option plans, closely held businesses, insurance, the resources of family members and current estate plans. We work with our clients' other professionals to minimize taxes, provide financial flexibility, and achieve both short-term and long-term financial goals. We believe that it is paramount to consider all aspects of a client's financial circumstances prior to providing advice because each individual decision is interrelated with other areas of the financial picture.
Professional Expertise and Specialization
Our firm includes professionals with the following suite of experiences and credentials:
a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner or a CFP® practitioner who is also a tax and estate attorney;
a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and former NASD examiner with deep experience in portfolio management, institutional investment consulting and brokerage operations;
an investment specialist with over 30 years business experience in management and investing; and
an investment advisor and attorney who has with 15 years of legal experience with stock options, restricted stock, venture capital funds, hedge funds, private real estate funds and other alternative investments.
Please refer to Our People for a complete description of our principals and associates.
Professional Objectivity & Fee-Only Services
We do not accept commissions or compensation from any source other than our clients. We are convinced this significantly reduces conflicts of interest. Some planners may refer to themselves as "fee based" or "fee off-set" while charging both a fee and receiving commissions from selling products or referral fees from other service providers. In circumstances other than "fee-only" relationships, a conflict of interest can arise which may motivate an advisor to favor certain financial products over others or to recommend an inappropriate transaction. (Click here to see Services Comparison Chart).
Comprehensive and Tailored Annual Reports
Each year we provide our clients with a custom-tailored comprehensive annual report. This report includes: investment returns and market and asset class commentary, your balance sheet, your expected cash flow and taxes for the coming 12 months, your long-term investment policy (allocation), expected returns and volatility, specific manager recommendations, recommended use of tax-deferred accounts, spending and savings forecasts, stock options and restricted stock strategies, insurance coverage and an estate planning review. (Click here to see Asset Allocation Process) We prepare the report after extensive consultation and a thorough review of each client's assets and liabilities. We include specific financial and investment recommendations that our staff can implement with the client's approval.

Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. owns the certification marks CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and federally registered CFP (with flame design) in the U.S., which it awards to individuals who successfully complete initial and ongoing certification requirements.
